A Few Words About Us
Hello readers. My name is Nora and I am a suicide survivor. My best friend, Michael, began my journey towards helping others in need. I never pictured living my life without him. Everyday, I am learning new ways to heal and cope with this loss. This site, along with the collaborative efforts of my colleagues, has been launched in order to commemorate the legacy of our loved ones as well as to provide insight to people who are suffering with mental afflictions. We’re here to show others that there are solutions. Michael took his life at the age of 29 on July 28, 2008 – about a month before his 30th birthday.
I met Michael when he had just turned 18. Our friendship spanned almost 12 years, although it felt like a lifetime. His twin sister also committed suicide a few years prior, leaving their mother childless. I made an oath to always be there for their Mom, Susan, as if she were my own. I will continue to honor my oath out of love for Michael and his family. I love you mamacita. And I love you, Paul, for being a such a wonderful husband and caretaker to her. Throughout tragedy, these amazing bonds of love have not healed our wounds, yet, they have provided support in ways that we never could have imagined.
Our goal is to raise awareness to help identify people who are suffering from severe depression and are contemplating suicide. We will provide links to helpful resources and media outlets for you to use as needed. Lives can be saved, hope can be restored and together, we will prevent more families from having to suffer the loss of loved ones in this way.
